Drone bumblebees cannot sting |
Right now our flower garden is full of bees - bumblebees and honeybees specifically. A significant number of the bumblebees are drones (males) that spend the night on the same flowers that they hung out on during the day. In the morning if the temperature is low enough they are unable to fly. On days like this they can easily be handled. There's no need to worry - drone bees do not have stingers. In this picture, Shara hold four of the drones we found yesterday morning.
